answers1: I hate that. I get accused of "talking white" because I
don't like slang or abbreviating words. And I'm known to correct
people's spelling and/or grammar.

It's like no I'm a biracial chick who hates morons.
answers2: i suppose its just that theres still i seperation between
black and white people ... ders still racism in the world !!!
answers3: I agree. The whole idea is stupid. Most of the people I know
who "act black" or "act white" were raised around white or black
people. So they aren't trying to be like them as much as they are
acting like they were raised to. The only white friends who I know who
stereotypically act black have a lot of black friends and eventually
developed that kind of behavior.

So no you aren't acting like a color. You can't act like a color. You
are just acting the way you learned how to act.
answers4: Because there are a lot of people (including Al Sharpton)
that depend on black people to act like pieces of garbage and commit
crime so he can cry about what an outrage it is everytime a crack
dealer gets arrested.

The powers that be you want to talk with your "***** dialect" to scare
stupid white people, and make them assume you're a criminal so they
see you as an enemy rather than a potential friend.

The people in power depend on the segregation of whites and blacks to
hold onto their power, because the second we stop looking at race and
start looking at social class, we realize there are a hell of a lot
more of us working our fingers to the bone than there are guys in
suits sitting around smoking cigars and collecting the money we're
money.

The most rebellious thing a black man can do is to become rich and
successful through legal means (and not being an entertainer) and
speak like a human being, not a stereotype. All white people speak
differently, why can't all black people?
answers5: Because they are morons who rely on stereotypes and
generalizations to "teach" them about life.
answers6: well lets face it different cultures have their own
mannerisms and yup you can act black or white. the operative word is
MANNERISMS not GOALS
answers7: No, you can't act a color. But you can act a culture. And
these cultures are defined by which racial group makes up the
majority..

And white culture is speaking proper english with proper grammer.
Showing respect to people around you. Valuing education, etc.

And "black" culture is gangasta, obnoxious, hiphop, drug obsessed.

It doesn't mean everybody in these cultures is a specific race, it's
just a statistical representation.
answers8: You seem very self concious because if you act like and look
like what you want then why does it matter what they say. Black people
in GENERAL do similar things, act similar, and dress similarly. Now
with that said with my personal style "preppy" which is not the
sagging, urban (however you want to genrealize black people) style
does not get me called an oreo. Perhaps its your personality that adds
to the fact that you dress differently. For example you don't want to
be called an oreo or said to be acting white yet you "stereotype" by
saying you speak regular american english as if only white people do
so. It seems to me that you already have the if its white then your
alright complex...and that is your philosophy without how you dress
being a factor.
answers9: No, you're right. You can't ''act a color'' but you can act
a culture, when they say black, they mean ''african-american'' and
when they try to act that way, they act out the most transparent
stereotype, by acting 'hood' or 'gangsta' because of what the media
and rap industry represents on behalf of your race.
answers10: I get so annoyed by that. Just because I don't listen to
rap, educated, and know how to speak correct English does not mean
that I am "acting white". I know my history and where I came from. I
love my people and my culture but I like other cultures too (not so
much the people). If you're quiet and respectful, then you are
apparently "acting white". So stupid. Why must African Americans or
anyone have limitations to how we are "suppose" to act?

A black person is only acting when when they forget the fact that they
are black and want to be white. Otherwise than that, you're just
acting like an educated black person, like many others but people fail
to see us that way.
