Can dating a person with dysthymia hurt your mental health?

Nancy Mansell: yes it can hurt but it again depends on your will power and how much strength you have to handle your self. Because when we date normal person they hurt badly so what to say about abnormal person they can do anything so its clear but to get hurt or not in on you and on your state of mind

Davida Gisriel: To an extent, it depends on how self-aware you are. If you can tell when someone is purposely trying to take you down with them or being around them makes you feel sad, then your mental health can be controlled as long as you are aware of it. If you're not good ! at looking at your surroundings, addressing why you feel certain ways, or are easily persuaded, then there's a chance that your mental health could be at risk. The reason even fairly self-aware people aren't always immune to it is because the patient with dysthymia may not be doing it on purpose, but they are likely to be very negative and unintentionally bring others down with them.
