Home Theater / Stereo Question! can anyone answer this?

Mohamed Szollosi: That is a bad idea.Look - a budget system with a matched set of identical speakers can give a great HT experience. Mixing different speakers - even if they are higher end - will blow the illusion of surround sound.The other problem - often "box" systems are designed to work only with the included speakers and subwoofer. One of the things you give up for the low price is the ability to mix/match parts. So you are better off using this Onkyo system for HT and buying a separate receiver for $100-$200 from your local Craigslist for your 2-speaker music system....Show more

Dewey Heersink: That's a nice looking system you're looking at. The amplifier has 7 channels of power rated at 130 watts per. This is probably at 8 ohms, so assuming your speakers can be driven by up to 200 watts at 8 ohms, then you would be ok, but you would have to remove two of the supplied speakers as there are 7 of them and only 7 channels of power. In this case, and if th! is receiver allows it, Set up a 5.1 channel configuration and plug your big speakers into 'speaker b' connections (if allowed) so you could listen to stereo sound from them, or 5.1 surround sound from the supplied speakers. The fact that the supplied speakers are tonally matched to each other; however, would incline me to just use them only, and by a second hand or inexpensive stereo amp for your big speakers to be used separately. I hope this helps. You can find out more info about speakers and home theater here. http://www.home-theater-systems-guru.com/home-thea... I have a link to amazon there as well. Thanks.Regards,Jon HTS Guru...Show more

Tricia Dossous: i think there are

Ninfa Aronica: the question is: are there outlets in the rear to support your speakers...its already supporting 7 as it is.. you may be able to substitute YOUR two speakers for those two towers they supply you with.but the 7.1 surround system is designed to support seven speakers, ! not 9;
