Camcorder help needed?

Alberto Kozub: If the camcorder recorders to miniDV tape and does USB streaming, you will get a less than good video quality version. How to do USB streaming will be in the camcorder's manual. Typically, there is a setting in the camcorder's menu. Your computer needs to be able to accept the USB streaming data stream into a video editor. Most current miniDV tape based camcorders no longer support USB streaming and require use of firewire to import the high quality DV (or HDV if you camcorder does that) video.Consumer flash memory and hard disc drive camcorders typically copy files over USB after you mount the camcorder hard drive. Just treat that copy process like any other external mass storage device connected by USB.Consumer DVD based camcorders generally require you to rip the video from the finalized DVD with a ripper like HandBrake.Since you did not tell us which camcorder or which laptop (or which operating system), it is difficult to provide any further detail in ! the response.
