Hilma Pestano: I assume you want street legal cars that are available to the public (i.e. no concept cars). If that's the case then Bugatti makes the fastest. The Bugatti Veyron 16.4, the most expensive, fastest and most powerful street-legal car in the world, goes from 0 to 60mph in 2.5 seconds and retails for a mere $1,440,000. It's top speed is 253.2mph by the way.

In March 1998, the F1 confirmed that it is the fastest production car in the world, achieving a record top speed of 240.14mph. This was a record it held until March 2005.
