Garrett Detone: I have just recently moved school districts an! d my best friend from my old school, Sarah, and I grew really close to these two teachers, Mrs. Cartier and Mrs. Clarke. Sarah and I confided a lot in Mrs. Cartier and we looked to her as a mom. She always treated us like daughters and she will admit it to this day. We were very close to her and we still confide in her even though she was our eighth grade English teacher. (We're Jun10rs in high school now.) Sarah was shocked because both of us knew Mrs. Cartier was never this crass and rude. & Mrs. Cartier was snipping about almost everything Sar had to say about her situation and she was saying all the wrong things you s! hould say to someone in a crisis like this. So Sarah left real! ly upset every time something was said to her. Monday, 1/5/09, Sarah was pulled into Mrs. Cartier's room and she had shut the door behind Sarah, so Sarah immediately knew something was up. Mrs. Cartier, the minute she closed the door, burst into tears and said she was sorry by the way she was snapping and she was just under a lot of pressure and she was taking it out on the wrong people. So Sarah was like, yeah whatever, but then Mrs. Cartier stopped her from leaving and said.... " I cheated on my husband and I think I may be pregnant. & my husband will no that I cheated because he's had a visectomy.." Sarah swore to not tell anyone, but not telling me this was like not telling me she was dying. We're sisters and we tell each other everything and she knew I wouldn't tell her peers or anyone she knew. & I know it's really inapropriate for a former teacher to admit anything like this about her personal life, but it came out and Sarah heard it. It can't be taken back....The mi! nute I found out I was in shock. I always thought that she would never do something like this. She always told us that this was (cheating) is such a bad thing. She always looked down on people who had done & she went out and did it herself? I've been crying and crying, because it's like finding out my mother did this to my father. It's like finding out Santa isn't real for the first time. Me and Sarah have been depressed and disgusted and people don't understand, THIS TEACHER WAS LIKE OUR MOTHER. We were extremely close.
